Victor Vasarely’s works are on display at the exhibition “Vasarely — d’un art programmatique au numérique” at the Espace culturel départemental Lympia in Nice, France, curated by Franck James Marlot.
Vasarely is considered to be one of the most famous geometric abstraction painters in France and around the world. He is also established by Americans as the leader of Op art in the 1960s and a defender of the dissemination of images through multiplicity in the 1970s. The artist was able to captivate the interest of his contemporaries and left a lasting mark on
art history.
In the exhibition, Victor Vasarely’s works are related to those of contemporary artists who had his influence.
Among them are names such as Miguel Chevalier and Pascal Dombis, represented by the Dan Contemporary Gallery.
At the invitation of curator Franck James Marlot, these artists placed their works in dialogue with those of Vasarely in order to show the vitality of the plastic and technological research initiated by him over seventy years ago.
The exhibition will run until October 22 from Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Thursdays, until 9 p.m. Admission is free and the schedule of guided tours can be found on the Espace Lympia website
