In his first solo exhibition at the Dan Galeria, Teodoro Dias brings together a group of paintings, drawings and sculptures that reveal the essence of his visual poetics. As an artist who emerged on the Brazilian art scene more recently, his work is marked by an appearance of conciseness that does not hide the maturation process that generally accompanies the creation of significant works. Teodoro uses a synthetic compositional form: the combination of vertical stripes that only differ in width and color, and that recall the repetitive and anonymous nature of the industrial world. However, what at first glance may seem like an empty conceptual exercise surrounding abstract art is tempered by the unique and artisanal work that the artist maintains with the production of colors and their combinations, generating the sensation of a lively,

vibrant and expressive form.

In the case of larger works, made of painted aluminum profiles articulated in a vertical position – and which can be manipulated by the visitor – the image of an open colored visual score is produced that materializes the dynamic, and at the same time harmonious, movement of a living organism. If it is possible to speak of a tradition of Brazilian art that was embedded under the definition of “sensitive geometry”, it is certain that its poetics are close to such a tendency, in order to reaffirm the inventive power that exists in what is simultaneously synthetic and multiple, simple and complex, anonymous and singular
