The show “Petrafagia”, by Denise Milan, is on display at Dan Contemporary Gallery. The individual takes the name of the series in which the artist uses her interest in crystallography and geology for the creation of the works.
“In Denise’s work, we often see dramatic scenes in which geological forces – involved in conflicts, suspensions and resolutions – serve as metaphors, or rather metonyms, of the forces that shape our consciousness,” says curator Gabriel Pérez-Barreiro.
The exhibition will feature Sergio Coimbra’s photographs of Denise’s sculptures, which allow us to travel through her individual universes.
One of the world’s main food photographers, Coimbra has photographed dishes of famous and world-renowned chefs, such as Alex Atala, Massimo Bottura, Heston Blumenthal, Tsuyoshi Murakami, Carla Pernambuco, Yoshihiro Narisawa, and Nuno Mendes, among others, transforming them into works of art.
The photographer applies his knowledge of the food area to Denise Milan’s works, generating images with depth and richness of details.
Visit the exhibition at Rua Amauri, 73, São Paulo. The gallery is open to the public from Monday to Friday from 10am to 7pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
