Biography


Rio de Janeiro, 1966

Anna Paola Protasio lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.

After having worked as an architect and furniture designer for 20 years, she saw herself taken to the Plastic Arts in a fluid way, after her furniture was becoming very sculptural.

His work focuses on the field of sculpture, installation and video art. He presented his works individually at museums and cultural centers in Rio de Janeiro such as the Museum of Fine Arts in 2010, Casa França Brasil in 2008 and the Postal Service Cultural Center in 2010 and in the capital of São Paulo at Mube, Brazilian Sculpture Museum in 2012, and also at SESCs in the cities of Bauru, São José do Rio Preto, São José dos Campos and Ribeirão Preto between 2007 and

2009.

He has exhibited at galleries in Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, New York, Cartagena in Colombia and Geneva in Switzerland.

Winner of the IBEU awards in 2016, Itamaraty in 2011 and first sculpture prize in Shanghai in 2011 and prize in Embu das Artes in 2010.

Anna Paola Protasio is interested in the forces and mysteries of physics, such as time-space travel, suspension, movement, and ascension.

It has another, more subjective interest, where it attempts to translate the feelings, emotions, dilemmas, and aspirations of the human being.

The artist’s work starts from the chosen material/object or the feeling/subject that afflicts her at that moment, giving both forms, soul and that object/material.

For her, the great moment is the moment of exchange with the spectator. Through the eyes of this spectator, she perceives in herself the emotion of the moment of creation
